Hello There!

I’m Travis, a technically minded Game Dev with 20+ years of industry experience and over 20 credited titles in mobile and console games. 

Animation is my focus but over the years I've had a hand in modeling, rigging, python scripting, texture mapping, video editing, UI, lead/management, design and FX. 

I’m always interested in expanding my skills and building knowledge in animation, tech art & video game development as a whole.

Projects

I like to call myself a Game Developer because after 20 years of games experience, I do a lot more than animate.
Here are some projects I worked on at VVS to help explain all the things I am interested in and capable of doing.

MASSIVE

MASSIVE was a pitch project I helped develop with a small group. The idea was a platformer mmo targeted at a younger demographic.
The project changed a lot over the few months we worked on it, and I had a hand in helping design character behavior, abilities, and movement, along with doing the tech art involved with setting up the characters in engine, rigging, and animation.

MASSIVE Pre-Vis Trailer

This video is a trailer I put together (editing, animation, rigging, fx) which contains some gameplay and a lot of pre-vis meant to come across as gameplay.

MASSIVE Alpha Gameplay Trailer

The art style and design was honed down to this alpha trailer, which is entirely taken of in game footage. I really enjoyed how fun the end product came out, although ultimately the project was cancelled.

DOWNWORLDS

Downworlds was another pitch project I helped develop with a small group. The idea was based on tech that allowed you to align your phones together to create a single screen. The tech itself was designed during a gamejam our studio had, and my team was repsonsible for coming up with a tech demo to show how a game might work with that tech. We landed on a project called Downworlds, where characters mine into the earth to uncover treasure and enemies.
I helped to design the character behavior, the tileset behavior, and the overall theme. I implemented gameplay assets, modeled and textured environment art, rigged and animated the characters, set up their state machines, and worked on some node based shaders.

This video shows how the project worked with the phone alignment tech. While I didn't work on the original tech design, I had a hand in helping design this demo to work with that tech.

Will Wright Proxi Art Challenge 2018

While on the job search in 2018 I decided to enter the Will Wright Proxi Art Challenge.
The challenge was to create dioramas using the Unity engine.
Everything was created by me, from art to code to tech art to implement these dioramas in Unity.

Digital Lorcana Card

This was a fun mini project to explore setting up a digital version of a Lorcana card.
This was in no way connected to the respective copyright owners of Lorcana, it was just for tech-art exploration.
I set this up in Unity, and implemented it entirely (except for some help in cutting up the card art).

343 Animation Test

I did this animation test in 2018, I was applying to a few places and ultimately took a different role.
This was fun to work on though, and what I liked about old Halo is how slapstick some of the characterization came across, so I went for that.

2-D Puppet Animation Reel

This reel was made from animation I did in the 2d puppet style of the studio I worked for at the time. I enjoy working in all kinds of animation styles.
